EARTH, WATER, FIRE EXHIBITION @ C.JOHN

Nature can be likened to a gigantic abstract painting. William Solomon is not intimidated by large scales. On the contrary, he is fascinated by the freedom, the possibilities and the potential that they carry within them. Having made his first steps as a graffiti artist at a very young age, he appreciates the energy, the vivid colours and the strong messages of street art. The latter consists, in effect, the starting line of his artistic journey. It was urban art that gave him the impetus to work with diverse mediums. William’s ever-growing appetite for experimentation drove him out of the metropolis. His discovery was, therefore, the beauty that lies in Nature. Its elements became the core of his latest work and a new field of exploration that has yet a long way to go. Earth, water and fire. William represents each one of them with great respect for their corporeality. He uses natural materials like lichen, sand and metals, which are fully integrated into the canvas with the help of his adventurous colour palette. Besides forming our natural environment, those elements have strong symbolic meanings. Solidity, fluidity, movement and destruction possess the outside and inside world of every human being. William strives to bring art closer to the wider public in order to stimulate its imagination. Τhis is an aspiration that proves, first and foremost, his evolution as a street artist at heart. "The beautiful is in nature, and it is encountered under the most diverse forms of reality. Once it is found it belongs to art, or rather to the artist who discovers it". Gustave Courbet K
